Big Give Winner

About Brian Helps & The Wyoming Baseball Association

The Wyoming Baseball Association provides quality baseball to over four hundred children ages 3-18 in the Sarnia-Lambton area.  A large portion of their existence is supported by local volunteers who run registrations, clinics, organize tournaments, and perform diamond preparation and maintenance.  A very special volunteer to the association is local retiree Brian Helps who spends countless hours making hand-made wooden bats for the players and maintaining and preparing the diamond for games and practices.

The association is currently in the planning stages of a project to refurbish Wyoming's Canton Park baseball diamond.  Hearing about how much this baseball association provides to local children, and Brian Helps passionate contributions, Mainstreet wanted to recognize this group with our "Big Give" grand prize.

On December 12 we secretly gathered over a hundred local community members outside Brian's home and called him outside with the help of the local fire station.  Brian was surprised to be honoured and Mainstreet was thrilled to award a huge Yankees fan with two tickets to New York City to watch a Yankees game in VIP seating, as well as the Yankees "Inside Experience" program.  Mainstreet didn't stop there, and awarded the community and Baseball Association with $5000 to purchase a new scoreboard for the diamond project.
