Mainstreet Credit Union is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and caring environment for all employees and members. We are proud to celebrate the difference between and within every employee and member, and have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, racism, and harassment.

As of 2022, Mainstreet has established a diversity, equity, and inclusion committee. During their short tenure they have launched a voluntary census and feedback survey for all staff to take part in; training; and the organization of special awareness activities and events.

Gender Diversity

The Credit Union sector has a proud and celebrated past with being the first financial institution to lend to women in their own names in the 1960’s (when this was not permitted across the industry). A recent 2021 Credit Union National Association study found that 51% of Credit Union CEOs are women, compared to only 3% at banks.

Our current executive leadership team is 50% female-led and women occupy over 41% of management roles and over 71% of other diverse roles across the organization, such as: digital, data analytics, agricultural and commercial account managers, and more. Areas of opportunity for the organization would be improving the proportion of visible-minority staff.  We are also working on recruiting a more diverse board (current make-up is 8 men and 1 woman, with no visible minority representation).
